Maumee High School Concert Band Performances
Text Box: Tensions are high and determination fills the air in the Maumee High School Band room Monday thru Friday mornings as the Maumee Band prepares for their upcoming concert and district band contest. The band has been working for months to prepare for this annual event, in hopes of not only performing a fantastic concert, but earning a trip to state contest, by receiving a rating of 1 at district contest. Concert band contest judges three pieces; a march, a piece off of the OMEA list, and a choice piece followed by sight reading, where the band is Text Box: given 3 minutes to view a piece before performing it for a judge. The march this year is entitled Invercargill, composed by Alex F. Lithgow. The music of Songs of Old Kentucky by Brandt Karrick may ring a bell; the first movement was performed at the winter concert. But make sure to come back to hear the entire piece put together and better than ever. Invicta by James Swearingen is the final of the three pieces that are being sent to contest. In addition to those three, Sea of Tranquility by David Shaffer will be performed at the concert.
Text Box: The band hopes to see you at their concert on Monday, March 10th, at 7pm in the PAC (Performing Art Center) of Maumee High School.
Make sure you wish them luck as they head to Sylvania Southview for contest on Saturday, March 15th at 10:30 am.
Extra special performance with all Maumee Bands will be on April 24th, at 7pm in the PAC.
Mr. Cintron would like to remind all of us to dress in Black & White with ties!!!
 Enjoy! Danica Dagg, Senior
